More Gwendolyn

1. Origins

Gwendolyn Elizabeth Marie Wizadora Coldridge is born as the only daughter of the great Coldridge dynasty, a long line of thaumaturges at the top of their craft. Her six older brothers disregard her completely in their constant fight to become head of the house, and Gwendolyn dreams of a life much more mundane than sorcery and spellcraft.

2. Thauma-lurgy

Gwendolyn begins her time at the Arrzaneth Ossuary, studying to follow in her family's footsteps and become a world-renowned thaumaturge. Much more interested in the hustle and bustle of the city markets than her studies, Gwen forgets to sit her very first exam and is expelled having only learned how to conjure ice cubes and chill drinks.

3. Adventures in Waitressing

Too ashamed to return home and face her family's ridicule for dropping out of the Thaumaturge's Guild, Gwen runs away to Limsa Lominsa where she manages to snag a job at the Bismarck. She wants to badly to be a waitress and socialise with all the customers, but she's relegated to the back of the kitchen where she conjures ice cubes and chills the customer's beverages before they're served. Eventually, Lyngsath replaces her with a portable icebox and Gwen is on the hunt for work once more.

4. Whatever Gap-pened to Baby Gwen?

Fast forward twenty summers, and Gwendolyn's come to the end of one of her many failed career experiments. Still dreaming of a place she truly belongs, Gwen stumbles across a quaint little shop selling all manner of magical oddities - The Sycamore Gap. What's in store next for this newly appointed shopkeep? Only time (or the 'lonely hearts' section of the local newspaper) will tell...

1. The Sycamore You Know...

Gwendolyn works at a little shop called The Sycamore Gap where she fills in as the clueless, yet enthusiastic shop assistant. The new rug she sells you might fly away with your coffee table on it, but how was she supposed to know it was enchanted? Maybe it just got really excited by your beautiful home.

2. A Cunning Culinarian

Gwen thoroughly enjoys baking, and will often batch-cook sweet treats to take with her wherever she goes. They always look a little... suspect, but they generally taste great. She is, however, known to be rather adventurous with her ideas and they don't always land. Spicy kiwi fudge, anyone?

3. Sidequesting

Never has anyone been more willing to just 'give it the ol' college try'. Gwendolyn can, at times, be found in the most obscure places, working the most absurd gigs. She's been a Moonfire Faire lifeguard. She's been a Starlight moogle mascot. She's even been Halone for an Ishgardian children's party - though she couldn't quite nail the 'fury' part.

4. Self-taught Seamstress

You get pretty crafty when you've lived a life juggling part-time jobs with not a gil in your savings account. Gwendolyn is a self-taught seamstress, and a pretty good one at that. She readily offers her services to anyone with some coin to spare - though don't be surprised if your suave, sophisticated suit jacket comes back with some cute moogle buttons.

1. Mister Meatball

Is he a sausage dog? No. Does she call him a meatball all the same? Absolutely. Mister Meatball is Gwendolyn's companion, recently inheriting him from her grandmother, Jessalyne. His real name was archaic and hard to remember, but he always came running when he heard the word meatball, so that became his new name.

2. The Silent Grove Theatre Troupe

The Sycamore Gap is owned and run by the Silent Grove - a clandestine, morally grey organisation focused on aiding the oppressed people struggling with those abusing their power. Gwendolyn, however, is oblivious to their sometimes-criminal nature, and believes them to be a theatre troupe. As such, she offers them her tailoring services to maintain and kit out their wardrobe of disguises and stealthy black tactical wear.

Comedic vs Serious Roleplay

While Gwendolyn is, at her core, a comedic character, I try to bring a level of depth and characterization to her within roleplay. She has wants, fears, dreams, the lot - and she's a social butterfly who loves connection. My attempt is never to derail more serious RP or more dark and gritty characters, as she's capable of that too.

Lore Compliance

I often 'fill in the blanks' when it comes to Gwendolyn's lore. I avoid contradicting established lore wherever possible, and prefer to focus on areas of the lore/world-building that Square Enix have only touched on somewhat. I like to roleplay with people of a similar train of thought - invent what you like, but endeavour to explain it within the existing setting.

Looking For

It may be obvious, it may not - I am not looking for anything remotely NSFW on this character within roleplay. I could not possibly disrespect an icon so. Please keep this in mind when interacting with Gwendolyn, as any flirtation or talk of romnance is simply for fun. Ideally, she would be great to make new friends with or liven up scheduled events.

If you already follow me on BSky you'll no doubt know that I do post NSFW content fairly regularly online for my other characters. Most of this stuff is fun, light-hearted and OOC. However, if you're someone who's particularly averse to adult content that's something for you to keep in mind, as I don't really tend to censor myself.

My Availability

I'm based on Balmung (Crystal) and I'm UK-based (GMT/EST+5). I'm around most evenings and throughout the weekends, but due to work etc. I'm not often online extremely late Monday-Thursday. Keep that in mind as scheduling RP might be quite difficult if our schedules don't ever sync up.
